Mr. Daniel A. Morgan, is the Managing Director, and founder, of Database Security Worx consultancy specializing in providing products and services to assess and enhance the security of Oracle databases.
Morgan began his IT career writing Fortran IV on IBM mainframes in 1969 and migrated his skills to relational and object databases in the late 1980s. Morgan is an internationally recognized subject matter expert in the areas of data and database security, stability, and scalability with a practice that embraces both DevOps and Cloud environments. During his career, Morgan has been retained as an advisor by Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP as well as by numerous Fortune 500s, SMBs, and by both public sector and educational organizations. Morgan’s current work focuses on consulting in both a presales and delivery capacity and his education outreach activities are centered on the Oracle Database Security Master Class he wrote and has presented on numerous occasions in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific countries

Education
In 2009 Mr. Morgan retired from his position as Adjunct Professor at the University of Washington where he designed and wrote the Oracle Database and SQL curriculums and served, for 11 years, as the program’s instructor. In addition to his work at the University of Washington Morgan served as an adviser to the education outreach program at the University of California Berkeley, as a consultant on Oracle to Harvard University, and as a guest lecturer at universities on four continents including the University of Oslo (Norway), the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), Techologico de Costa Rica, and Universidad Latina de Panama.
Professional Associations
Mr. Morgan is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Northern California Oracle Users Group, past President of the Puget Sound Oracle Users Group (Seattle), past Vice President of the Twin Cities Oracle Users Group (Minnesota), and as a member of the New York Oracle Users Group. In the 1990s Morgan was the Chair of the Washington Software Association’s Database Special Interest Group and has been a member of technology groups in the Americas and EMEA. Morgan is a founding member of the British Columbia Oracle Users Group (Vancouver, Canada) and the International GoldenGate Oracle Users Group.

Presales: Mr. Morgan’s unique position in the Oracle community as an ACE Director Alumnus with 30 years consulting in aerospace, biotechnology, distribution, ecommerce, high-tech, hospitality, insurance, retail, supply chain, telecommunications, and military provides him both immediate name recognition and credibility with Oracle customers worldwide. Morgan is uniquely qualified to provide support across the full range of core features in Oracle editions and versions, stand-alone and clustered, and legacy and container architectures
Product Development: While at Sirius, Morgan was responsible for development of a new security product, PPDL (Pre-Production Data Loader) created to address a unique GDPR related challenge for one of the five largest international insurance companies. Now, at DBSecWorx Morgan is leading the coding efforts to build tools that will automate the process of identifying security weaknesses and resolving them.
Consulting: Morgan’s consulting engagements focus in the areas of security, stability, and scalability grounded in a deep understanding of core Oracle Database technologies. Morgan was a member of the two-person team that built the first Oracle RAC Cluster on Apple Mac’s beating both Oracle Corp. and Apple to that goal which resulted in being retained as a consultant by both. In the area of database security Morgan’s practice encompasses no just protecting data from access and modification but, of equal importance, preventing databases from being used as an attack tool. In addition to the Oracle Database Morgan has Beta tested and/or deployed Oracle Advanced Security, Audit Vault, Database Vault, and served as a consultant to the US Navy for deployment of Label Security.

Legal: Morgan has extensive experience in governance, compliance, auditing, the CIA triangle, and working with law firms and law enforcement agencies on security-related matters. Morgan’s experience includes testifying in Federal Courts and he has been retained as an expert witness with respect to “customary” and “best” practices.
